Test your GFCI outlets monthly
GFCIs save lives. They only work if they work.
What you'll learn
- Why GFCIs are required in kitchens, baths, garages, outdoors
- The 30-second monthly test that proves yours work
- What it means if RESET won't hold after a test
- Typical 10-15 year replacement life
Step by step
- Plug a lamp or phone charger into the GFCI.
- Press the TEST button. Power should cut immediately.
- Press RESET. Power should return.
- If nothing happens on TEST or RESET won't hold — replace the outlet.
Safety note
GFCIs wear out — typical life is 10-15 years. If yours are as old as the house, replace the whole set. We can handle it in an hour.
