Test your GFCI outlets monthly

GFCIs save lives. They only work if they work.

What you'll learn

  • Why GFCIs are required in kitchens, baths, garages, outdoors
  • The 30-second monthly test that proves yours work
  • What it means if RESET won't hold after a test
  • Typical 10-15 year replacement life

Step by step

  1. Plug a lamp or phone charger into the GFCI.
  2. Press the TEST button. Power should cut immediately.
  3. Press RESET. Power should return.
  4. If nothing happens on TEST or RESET won't hold — replace the outlet.
Safety note

GFCIs wear out — typical life is 10-15 years. If yours are as old as the house, replace the whole set. We can handle it in an hour.
